The first week of May is almost over, and it was another eventful week of sports, sponsorship, and entertainment. From anticipation around an exciting sports weekend to partnership announcements, this week did not disappoint.
5 sporting events to watch
This weekend is a sports lover’s dream, jam-packed with F1, the Kentucky Derby, UFC, boxing Nascar, NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, Madrid Open, and more.

4. Nascar Cup Series at Darlington

5. Madrid Open

4 May the 4th posts
May the 4th, Star Wars Day, got the royal treatment on social media. From Yoda to light sabers, you couldn’t scroll a timeline feed without seeing some Star Wars mention, especially in sports.

3. Razer

4. All Blacks

3 Giro roster announcements
Giro d’Italia, the 21-stage, 3-week cycling race across 2,141 miles starts in Budapest today, with the majority of the race in Italy. This week, cycling teams posted across social media, highlighting their race rosters.

2. Lotto Soudal

2 partnership announcements
It was especially hard to pick just two partnership announcements this week, but we’ve chosen two in the soccer world.
1. MLS (and their 26 clubs) + Socios.com

1 insight to share
This insight is a bit different than previous weeks. One could say it was Nashville SC’s social team having a little bit of fun with People Magazine’s tweet mistake, resulting in a viral moment.
1. Nashville SC has fun on Twitter
Sunday, May 1, Nashville SC held their home opener in new stadium GEODIS Park. Tennessee-native Reese Witherspoon is an owner of the team and was in attendance. On Monday, May 2, People Magazine posted about Witherspoon attending the game on Twitter, but Nashville SC became “The Tennessee Titans Soccer Team.” Kudos to Nashville SC’s quick and fun social team for making light of the mistake, as they altered the Titans’ logo to include their crest. What’s even better? Nashville SC’s tweet was the team’s eighth most engaged with Twitter post year-to-date.
