Morocco, first African team to reach the semifinals
Since the start of the World Cup, the Moroccan national team has added more than one million new social media followers, reaching 3.8 million total followers (as of December 12, 2022).
The biggest one-day growth day was December 6, after the team beat Spain on penalties to qualify for the quarterfinals. However, after Morocco’s historic run into the semifinals, they gained 234K new followers.


Morocco’s average daily engagement during 2022 is 215.5K across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but during the World Cup the team has seen average daily engagements soar to 1.2 million. Engagement per post on Instagram for 2022 is 63.9K, but during the World Cup its increased 266% to 234K engagements per post.
