2023-24 NBA Jersey Patch Sponsors
NBA jersey patches have become a significant canvas for branding and revenue generation since they were introduced during the 2017-18 season. These relatively small but eye-catching patches have turned into sought-after real estate for a wide range of brands seeking to enhance their visibility among basketball fans.
The NBA boasts a wide array of brand partnerships, spanning from prominent international corporations in finance to locally-rooted businesses that resonate with the individual personalities and values of each team. This mosaic of sponsorships underscores the league’s dedication to fostering collaborations that not only mirror the unique personalities of every franchise but also cater to a global and diverse fanbase.
NBA Jersey Patch Sponsorships
NBA teams have set the standard for jersey sponsorships for other North American leagues like the MLB and NHL. To start the 2023-24 NBA season, 26 of the 30 teams have jersey partnerships – the same as the 2022-23 season but different teams are in the mix while other teams are waiting to either renew or sign new partners.
The financial industry dominates the jersey sponsor market in the NBA with nine total brands represented (at the time of this blog), followed by ecommerce, entertainment, software, and food/bev with two brands each. The rest of the teams have a range of sponsors, from healthcare, telecom, steel, and tourism. Motorola is one of two brands sponsoring two different teams’ jerseys this year (Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks), as the telecom company continues to make its presence known in the Midwest market. Ibotta, an Ecommerce platform, also sponsors two jersey patches (Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans).

Social + Digital Activations
NBA jersey patches, while often too small to be readily recognizable on broadcasts, have emerged as powerful tools for social media and digital activations. These modest-sized patches might go unnoticed on the television screen, but their impact in the digital sphere is undeniable. Fans are spending more time than ever before consuming content on social media platforms, where every detail is magnified. Jersey patches effectively serve as integrated billboards in the realm of social media, providing sponsors with high visibility and engagement potential. Their compact size allows them to seamlessly integrate with the overall aesthetics of the jersey while capitalizing on the enormous digital landscape, where they become easily shareable, recognizable, and interactive assets that bridge the gap between the physical and digital aspects of the game. Here are some great examples of jersey patches that are easily recognizable and POP off the jersey!

MrBeast’s Feastables
The Charlotte Hornets announced a groundbreaking jersey patch deal with Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson’s snack brand Feastables. MrBeast is one of the most popular YouTube stars in the world, and his snack brand is now making its way into the NBA.
This is a uniquely exciting opportunity for both brands as there is sure to be lots of valuable promotion on both sides. On the day the partnership was announced, between the Hornets and MrBeast’s social media, Feastables earned more than $174,000 in media value.
